Emotionally intelligent parenting involves, firstly, being in tune with and validating your own emotions and knowing how to find balance and calm in the chaos of life. What's Inside:

  •  Targeted Guidance: Expert-led sessions tailored for tween/teens, focusing on emotional intelligence fundamentals and effective strategies for working through uncomfortable emotions, unhelpful thoughts and life's struggles.

  •  Interactive Learning: Engaging activities for practical application of emotional regulation skills, LIVE via Zoom at 11am every Thursday for 4 weeks starting November 30th 2023 (and for those that can't make it live, each session is available for playback and available in the afternoon to watch at a time to suit your child).

  •  Personal Toolkit: Equip your tween/teen with practical tools to navigate, express and manage emotions effectively using a simple 4 step method using CBT techniques, mindfulness practise and NLP (near-linguistic-programming).

If you're joining us LIVE there is no expectation to have your camera on if you don't want to.   • 'Navigating Emotions 101' is suitable for tweens (age 9-12) and teens (age 13+).

  • The knowledge, skills and strategies are appropriate for this age range because of the level of brain science and emotional intelligence content included.

Outline of the course

Session 1 Week 1

We begin by diving in to the science of emotions and adopting a positive mindset towards our feelings. We learn that there is no such thing as a bad emotion! Our emotions carry important messages for us - so in this session we will learn how to notice emotions as they arise by connecting to our body and growing our self-awareness. This is the first step in the ABCD method for emotional regulation. Your tween/teen will end the session feeling more empowered to FEEL instead of judge, hide or ignore their emotions.   

Session 2 Week 2

In our next session we learn about why our body goes into survival mode (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) when we feel worried, scared or angry, and how we can calm our nervous system to get our logical thinking brain engaged again. We learn to get curious about why we might be feeling what we're feeling so we can help ourselves or ask for help from others.  Your tween/teen will finish the session empowered with the knowledge of what they can and can't control and how to find their calm, let things go or ask for help depending on the message the emotion has for them. 

Session 3 Week 3

In week 3 we will learn how to get curious about our thoughts and ask whether they are helping us or not - often our negative thoughts tell us we can't do something, we're not good enough or that no one likes us - but thoughts are NOT facts! With the knowledge that our thoughts affect our actions, we will practise tuning in to our thoughts and noticing whether they are holding us back from feeling or doing something positive. At the end of the session your tween/teen will know the importance of their self- talk and how to use it's positive power! 

Session 4 Week 4

In our final session we will explore all the different things we can do to help change and release the emotional energy in our body in healthy and effective ways. Your tween/teen will make a personal toolkit for the techniques that work best for different emotions and different situations. We will bring the ABCD method together and set personal intentions to work on going forward. Every tween/teen will receive a certificate of completion!
