"Kate is one of those people that you want on your team. She has a genuine passion for empowering children to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace. She goes above and beyond to meet the unique needs of each child that comes to her class. Kate leads by example, embodying the practices of mindfulness in her own life and demonstrates the profound impact it has had for her and now shares that with her students. Kate is an excellent mentor for her young students and embodies a deep sense of self and connects with everyone she meets from a place of empathy, and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Kate to any school, parent or child looking to support their children’s emotional well-being and personal growth. You’ll be lucky to have her!"
Patricia Maddalena - Mindset Matters
Bespoke Mentoring for ages 8 - 16
Mentoring with Journey In Mind is for children struggling with low self-esteem, low confidence, a fixed mindset, symptoms of anxiety or emotional regulation.
Bespoke mentoring can be delivered one to one and with small groups of up to 4 children with similar needs. Sessions are weekly for an hour. A recommended minimum of 6 sessions is required in order to build trust, a positive connection and lasting change. Pupils have a 'Journey In Mind' folder to keep their resources, prompts and any drawings/posters etc.
Each week pupils are given a 'Power Practise' to work on between sessions, and written feedback is provided for the school and parents. The mentoring journey begins with an initial conversation with relevant school staff as well as a meet and greet with parents. A series of sessions is planned aligned to the child's areas for support and development.
Sessions include the use of mindfulness practise, growth mindset development, positive psychology and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques. We use a blend of approaches to make sessions adaptable and personal to individual needs/cases/ages.
Mindfulness practise allows children to better understand themselves (their mind and their emotions) and learn tools to cope with uncomfortable feelings. Mindfulness also helps to develop self-compassion and happiness. We explore the science of the brain and emotions in the body to support self-awareness and begin to re-wire the brain with empowering, positive self-talk. Pupils learn breathing techniques to help with emotional regulation and over-all wellbeing. We coach children to develop new, healthy mindsets to grow their positivity, courage, motivation, confidence and happiness. Sessions involve movement and creativity and we create a calm, safe space to explore feelings and thoughts.
Parents have access to an online course: 'Emotionally Intelligent Parenting' -which equips them with the knowledge and tools to be able to support their child during their mentoring journey.
Mentoring sessions start at £40* per hour for 1:1 sessions.
*Prices are dependant on number of children and travel time.

The 'Mindful Minds' Course - KS2
The 'Mindful Minds' Course for ages 7-11 introduces pupils to the benefits of mindfulness practise. Studies show that mindfulness can increase focus, attention, self-control, compassion and a positive outlook. Being mindful means having your mind on what you are doing - it's the opposite of rushing, being distracted or doing too many things at once. To be mindful: you slow down, engage your senses and conscious breathing, notice your thoughts, take your time to pause before reacting and try to only do one thing at a time. Mindfulness is a practise and a way of being, fostering greater happiness and self-awareness.
During the course, pupils will learn about their brain, practise noticing thoughts, train their ability to focus and use their senses to ground themselves in the now. Using breathing techniques and positive affirmations, pupils will learn to find their calm and grow their self-love, self-belief and self-motivation. Pupils will also practise gratitude and develop empathy and compassion for others.
Sessions are fun, engaging, practical and active - incorporating art, movement, music and nature!
'Mindful Minds' can be delivered over a half term as weekly 60 minute sessions (5-7 weeks). Prices start at £350.
Please contact Kate for tailored prices and to discuss how the 'Mindful Minds' course can be tailored to your pupils and school setting.
'Navigating Emotions' Full day Workshop - KS2
Our full day 'Navigating Emotions' workshop is founded on emotional intelligence principles and takes children through a step by step method that they can use to begin to navigate their emotions more confidently! The workshop teaches children how to notice, name and welcome their emotions with kindness, building their self-awareness and a positive mindset towards their feelings. Children will learn about their brain, nervous system and fight, flight, freeze, fawn survival modes. Children will be able to recognise the power of their breath in times of stress or worry and learn to pause before reacting. Children learn the powerful skill of being curious rather than judgemental when it comes to their own and others' emotions and behaviour. And by the end of the day, the children will be equipped with a range of effective tools and strategies they can use for settling different emotions and coping in a range of situations.
'Navigating Emotions' is effective for introducing a holistic approach to emotional regulation across KS2.
The full day workshop starts at £250 per class and includes all resources, booklets and posters.

Year 6 'Empowered Minds' Workshop
The 'Empowered Minds' workshop is designed specifically for supporting Year 6 pupils to feel confident and empowered by learning how to let go of their own limiting beliefs and develop a positive, growth mindset using approaches like flipping negative self-talk and using positive affirmations. Pupils will learn to take back control over their thoughts after learning about the natural negativity bias of our brains! We explore a range of effective coping strategies to settle worries and calm nerves as well as practising focused awareness techniques to help build their concentration skills. We talk about ways to release stress from the body and increase the feel good chemicals in our brain.
While there is no mention of SATs during the workshop - the content of the day is perfect for empowering Year 6 pupils to feel confident and prepared in the lead up to SATs week! This workshop is suitable for mixed year 5/6 classes as well.
The workshop is a full day and includes a work booklet as well as 2 empowering posters for your classroom! Prices start at £250.
Please contact Kate to make a booking for Spring/Summer 2025.
'Secondary Ready!'
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Workshop
Whether pupils feel excited, nervous or full of worry about the move to secondary school we want all pupils to feel prepared and ready for what can feel like a big change! The 'Secondary Ready' full day workshop is ideal for that time after SATs and before their induction/transition day at their new secondary school (Summer 2).
The content of the workshop is founded on positive psychology of the brain and learning to take back control of self-doubt, insecurities, worries and fears - which we all have! And although this workshop is aimed at helping Year 6 feel ready to start secondary school, what they learn is crucial for the next chapter of their lives in and out of school!
In fun and practical ways we look at:
-
how to face fears and cope with change
-
making new friends and finding your place
-
growing your self-worth and a positive self-image
-
how to stay organised, plan your time and manage homework
-
self-motivation skills
-
setting long term goals for the future and how to get there
Prices for the full day workshop start at £250.
